There have been a lot of discussions encompassing how Team substratum is trying to dismantle the “competition. ” Maintaining our stance against kangers and kanging in general, this post serves as a final answer to TeamSlim.
This post is a follow-up to what Mike Finnegan stated in his G+ post.
First up, there is no “competition” at the moment. What Slim claims to present as a competition, is actually an exact replica of what substratum is. It’s exactly like placing a mirror in front of substratum and constructing a competition between the image and the object.
Next, there were claims floating around the G+ community as for how substratum is trying to dismantle it’s competition. Well, as we discussed in the paragraph above, there is no competition at the moment. Moreover, the only competition remotely near substratum happens to be a theme engine which is a work in progress.
In a post on G+, Mike Finnegan a.k.a “sykopompos,” lead developer of substratum stated that they would very well welcome any competition. In addition, Mike suggested the masses having access to the LineageAndroid Slack to refer to the “#themes” channel. Well, here’s what we found in the themes channel:
A source verified Mike’s claim of not worrying about any competition at all. In the screenshots, Mike is clearly offering the CMTE team any help he can provide. Moreover, team substratum offered Team CMTE a solution involving them creating a fork of substratum just to have some competition.
The whole situation of one faction of the community going against another ( considerably smaller, in this case) faction was aggravated when Slim started to ask for “proof” instead of denying their kang.
This truly shows that all substratum wants to have is a situation where their authorship is rightfully preserved. Forks and such are openly welcome.
What’s even more interesting is the fact that developers from LineageAndroid themselves have reached out to Team substratum. They’re actively helping substratum out by fulfilling what Lineage asks of them.
This dismantles Slim’s claims regarding substratum not being fit to their ideas. Whereas ,team substratum works with other developers flexibly. All SlimROMs has to do, was get in touch and work it out together.
Quoting a majority of the community,
“It will be unfortunate to see a well estabilished team suffer such a huge hit. I doubt people will download, flash and use Slim henceforth. The chances of someone still doing that, are slim.”
