I’m pretty sure you might have heard people saying “Facebook and Instagram suck a lot of juice out of your device.” Moreover, you might have even tried finding alternatives for the both, or similar juice-hungry applications. Well, your search ends here.
Hermit is an application that lets you create “lite” versions of almost any and every application having a web interface. For those of you reading about “lite apps” for the first time, think of them as lean and fast web apps tightly integrated with Android, like native applications.
As many applications drain precious amounts of your device’s battery even while you’re not using them, you should consider Hermit. Hermit’s lite apps are customisable, take up marginal amounts of space and conserve battery.
The lite apps are highly customisable and you can change the font, site icon, site mode and block popups/advertisments. I tried to create a web application, or a lite app for Facebook and it worked flawlessly.
Admittedly, I hadn’t experienced an increase in the screen on time untill I had to, quite obviously, uninstall the original applications in order to increase the SOT. Hence, I suggest you do the same.
Have you ever used web applications before? What do you think is the reason behind lite apps’ efficiency? Let us know through the comments!
