Pen drives have become a major part of our lives these days, and almost all of us use them to store our memories, work-related data, music, movies and a lot more. There have been many instances where a certain user accidentally deletes the contents of their Pendrive and even more cases where the Pendrive gets affected by a certain virus. In any case, the Pendrive ends up emptied out of its contents.
Naturally, these users started searching for methods using which they could restore the deleted data. There, no doubt, are a lot of methods out there, but these methods, in my opinion, are the most straight-forward ones.
Just so you know, many-a-times in the cases where the Pendrive gets affected by a virus, the contents are not actually deleted. What the virus actually does is, it creates a .exe extension to replace all the stored files, ultimately, hiding them from the user.
Recovering data from a Pendrive is a rather simple task, and this post will show you how to carry this task out. Plus, there are two methods.
The Command Prompt Method
First up, you need to navigate to the search box inside the Start Menu of type Run followed by pressing Enter. A dialog box should now open. Here, type cmd and press the Enter key. Command Prompt should start right away.
Let’s assume, that the Pendrive of yours is assigned the letter ‘F‘ (however, other letters can be automatically assigned to it.)
Inside Command Prompt, type F: and hit Enter. The following command should be typed correctly into Command Prompt. To be safe, copy the following and simply paste it followed by a gentle Enter.
attrib -h -r -s /s /d f:*.*
Remember to replace ‘f’ with the assigned letter for your Pendrive.
The Third-Party Software Method
EaseUS is an incredible software which basically is a data recovery wizard. It helps you recover infected files from various storage platforms. USB Flash Drives, Memory Cards, you name it. This software is currently available for the Windows and Mac platforms.
That said, this post would not include the steps required to successfully recover files using EaseUS. However, the EaseUS team has already laid out the detailed steps for you right here.
Do let us know if the methods suggested above worked for you, or the new ones you know of.
